Engineering Recruitment Drive: Mannok Showcases its Engineering Graduate Programme at University Exhibition

11th May 2022

Mannok attends Atlantic Technological University’s (ATU) Sligo Engineering and Technology 2022 Expo, to meet engineering students and inform them of the company’s long-established graduate programme which this year has increased places for graduate engineers as the company has ambitious innovative and sustainability plans. The company is actively recruiting newly qualified engineers and has a development plan in place to support all its graduates, so they have a successful, progressive career while working at its world class manufacturing facilities.

The company on the Fermanagh-Cavan border has been annually offering alumni from universities right across Ireland positions on its graduate programme, mentoring them and equipping them to become experienced professionals. This year, the Mannok Graduate Programme has several places for engineering graduates as the building and packaging products manufacturer has ambitious sustainability plans to produce its own renewable energy and work towards becoming a carbon neutral business.

The event, which attracted engineering students from ATU’s Sligo campus and budding engineers from local schools, was the perfect opportunity for Mannok’s HR Team and current Engineers to meet and network with potential candidates.

To get students engaged with its stand at the Expo, Mannok had a competition for one lucky winner to win a €100 One4All Voucher when they participated in a green screen photo activity and shared their photo on social media using the hashtag, #mannokfutures.

The interactivity was not only very popular with students, but lecturers were also all excited to get photos taken and be placed on a backdropped themed to the engineering roles the company is recruiting for including, Polymer, Chemical, Mechanical, Electronic and Electrical Engineers.

Mannok’s PIR Reliability & Maintenance Manager, Phillip Butler, was one of the company’s representatives at the event and he engaged with many students as he judged the Mechanical and Precision Engineering student project category and he commented,

“As a leading manufacturer of premium building and food packaging products for the UK and Irish markets, this event, at one of Engineers Ireland accredited universities, was a great opportunity for us to share details on our diverse business employing over 800 people.

I really enjoyed meeting final year students at ATU Sligo, I was very impressed with the standard and innovation in their engineering projects, and I could relate many of their projects to equipment Mannok has recently invested in or have plans to.

As an innovative company with modern technology systems, our engineers are involved in providing efficient solutions to develop processes and products, ranging from small component designs to extremely large plant, machinery, and vehicles.

I encourage engineering students to apply for a position on the Mannok Graduate Programme to work on real projects and challenges in all operational and strategic aspects of the business, and play an important role in the businesses’ efficiency, innovation, and operational excellence.”
