Quinn Industrial Holdings Limited (QIHL) based in Derrylin, County Fermanagh has re-launched its Graduate and Apprenticeship schemes as the company continues to re-establish itself as a major economic driver in the Fermanagh area. The company was established in December 2014 after it acquired the Construction Industry Supply (CIS) and Packaging businesses of the former Quinn Group. The business has its roots in what was the original business of the Quinn Group which was founded in 1973.
Over 150 young people attended the opening night last Thursday with the promise of eight graduate positions and seven apprenticeships on offer. The company has always had a tradition of bringing young people through the ranks and given its growth since being re-established in 2014, management felt that the time was right to re-introduce what has been a successful programme in the past.
Kevin Lunney, Chief Operations Officer said it was a reflection of the positive mood at QIHL since the company was formed late in 2014: “We are committed to the long term future of this business, we are keen to grow and develop key local talent who will be the future managers of QIHL in years to come, provided they are keen to work hard and achieve. Since we established the company in late 2014, we have seen strong growth and positive engagement with staff and customers, and we expect to see more growth in the coming months and years. As such we have revamped and developed our continuing education programmes offering an extended range of excellent Graduate and Apprenticeship opportunities.”
He added: “We are now offering graduate opportunities in Engineering, Accounting & Finance, Architecture & Building Science, Environmental Management, Health & Safety Management and General Management. The interest at our open night was breath-taking and is a real example of the positive mood of the management and staff, since we re-established the company in late 2014.”
Graduate programmes vary in length depending on the discipline ranging from two to four years. All follow a structured programme where graduates can rotate around all Group divisions in order to obtain extensive on-the-job, wide-ranging experience. In conjunction with South West College all graduates will complete a formal management training programme obtaining an ILM Level 3 in Management on completion. All Graduates will be assigned a mentor who will provide guidance and support throughout the programme.
