As part of its strategic plan to reposition the efficiency, carbon footprint and overall engineering resilience of its operations, a number of new positions have been identified within our Engineering, Process Control and Maintenance functions in Mannok Cement. The objective is to ensure all functions are supported at a sufficiently high skill-level and competency to meet current and future needs of the business.

Several important and exciting internationally collaborative engineering projects are currently in train at Mannok Cement which are aimed at ensuring future environmental compliance, improving plant efficiency, reducing CO2 while driving energy reduction overall. This work will require a very strong project management and technical engineering competency over the next five years. All work will be completed within a Lean Engineering framework with Continuous Improvement as a core objective. The range of innovative, research-led projects planned, particularly within the CO2 reduction space, will ensure that the professional and technical skills of those involved will be leading-edge and in demand both locally and internationally. We will be supporting maximum skills-attainment with accredited professional qualification in all cases.

The core objectives of the restructure are:
•Bring in new skills which allows engineers to grow and develop including taking responsibility for upcoming installations/ projects.
•Create additional technical support for the Control Systems functions which is critical to plant operation
•Apply dedicated skills to predictive monitoring of all mechanical and electrical plant item to reduce failures
•Create an improved dedicated maintenance regime for the plant which will ultimately reduce downtime

This specialist position will work alongside our highly experienced Control Systems Engineer. Significant training and development will be necessary over an extended period to learn the plant Instrumentation and Control design.

You will support the commissioning of equipment including instrumentation, motors, control panels and their associated control gear/MCC’s, and PLC. Fault finding, repair, maintenance of equipment including instrumentation, motors & associated control gear and equipment.

Candidates must have a strong desire and dedication to the discipline, including self-driven technical research motivation, in what will be a key role for the business.

Very strong IT and network protocol awareness will be essential, and a broad range of electrical and instrumentation base-knowledge is desirable.

A 3rd level qualification in relevant technical discipline is essential.
