23rd November 2023

Mannok, a diverse manufacturer of building products for the UK & Irish markets, proudly collected four awards at the prestigious 2023 National Buying Group (NBG) Awards programme. With a long-standing partnership with the premier buying group, NBG, Mannok has been supplying its building product range to the extensive membership of independent merchants for many years. The merchant-voted awards programme, proved to be another triumph for the Irish-headquartered supplier.

The 2023 NBG Awards, held on the 21st of November in St George’s Hall, Liverpool, saw Mannok honoured the following award categories:

  • NBG Supplier of the Year
  • General Build Supplier of the Year
  • Roofing & Insulation Supplier of the Year
  • Brick & Block Supplier of the Year.

These latest four accolades add to the company’s remarkable collection of NBG Awards, now totalling to 17 trophies picked up in the past six years. Notably, this year also marks the sixth consecutive year Mannok has been recognised as the General Build Supplier of the Year by NBG members.

Mannok is an experienced manufacturer of a comprehensive building product suite, including cement, PIR & EPS insulation, aircrete thermal blocks, roof tiles and precast. The company’s diverse product range positions it uniquely to provide exclusive opportunities to its customers and have a profound understanding of the construction market.

At present, Mannok is focused on providing its customers with more sustainable products and services, without compromising quality. For example, the company maximises trailer capacity and reduces the number of lorries on the road through Sustainably Mixed Load deliveries, combining heavier and lighter building products to create a full load, primarily consisting of cement, thermal blocks, roof tiles, and insulation boards.

This year, Mannok also announced two significant investment projects which have substantially enhanced the sustainability of its cement and thermal laminate plasterboards, which the company’s Lee Gillman, GB Sales & Marketing Director explains, as he comments on the company’s NBG award success,

“We are extremely proud to be awarded four NBG awards and receive this recognition for our quality products and service. This success means a lot to us. I’m very grateful to all our customers who voted for us and continue to support us, and to our employees who we are the reason our products and services are award winning.

Despite this year’s challenging market conditions, our commitment to sustainability and our customers is evident in two major investments in manufacturing technologies. The world’s first FUELFLEX® Pyrolyzer in our cement plant has enabled the production of cement with 50% less fossil fuels, reducing carbon emissions by 58,000 tonnes annually. Moreover, a €700,000 investment in the laminate plasterboard production line at our PIR Insulation facility has resulted in a 50% reduction in glue usage per board and a 60% decrease in electrical energy consumption.”

Mannok remains focussed on its commitment to environmental responsibility, outlined in its 2030 Vision sustainability strategy. The company aims to make significant progress towards a carbon-zero future within the next seven years, which will pave the way for net-zero emissions by no later than 2050.
