Mannok’s Cement Distribution Facility in England Guarantees On-Time Next Day Deliveries

16th November 2023

Mannok, a bulk cement and diverse building product manufacturer, has been supplying high quality bulk cement throughout England, from its Rochester distribution facility, for over a decade. With its reliable, prompt deliveries and excellent customer service, Mannok has built a vast and loyal customer base.

The company supplies around 10,000 tonnes of bulk cement every month to its customers across England, primarily in the southeast region but also as far as Derbyshire in the north. The continuous supply is made possible by Mannok’s Rochester bulk cement storage and distribution facility, which has capacity to store 8,400 tonnes in six silos, each capable of storing 1,400 tonnes.

Mannok’s extensive and loyal bulk cement customer base includes a range of precast manufacturers and ready-mix suppliers.

The dedicated team onsite, with most of the team being there from 2013 when the site opened, alongside a trustworthy, contracted delivery company, helps Mannok maintain its positive customer service experience, from order placement right through to its timed deliveries.

The company manufactures bulk cement at its cement plant, capable of producing around 1.4 million tonnes per year, in County Cavan, Ireland. Recently, the company invested in an R&D project with a Danish engineering company, FLSmidth, which has resulted in the company being the first cement plant in the world to have a FUELFLEX® Pyrolyzer operating on its plant. The groundbreaking technology enables the company to replace coal usage, in the precalcination stage of cement production, with solid recovered fuels, which would otherwise end up in landfills, reducing carbon emissions by around 58,000 tonnes annually.

Bulk cement is transported from Mannok’s plant in Cavan to England up to three times a month. Initially, cement is transported in bulk cement tankers to the company’s Warrenpoint storage facility in Northern Ireland. From there, it is carefully transferred to an airtight Baltrader vessel, embarking on a two and a half-day journey across the Irish Sea. Upon reaching Rochester, the cement is transferred to the facility’s silos for storage and subsequent distribution throughout England. Mannok maintains stringent health and safety protocols to ensure that this cement transportation remains entirely airtight throughout the process, with zero exposure to the atmosphere.
