Quinn Building Products have opened a state of the art vehicle inspection centre in County Fermanagh to maintain their fleet of over 300 trucks and trailers. The Centre reflects the company’s commitment to ensuring the safety of their vehicles, operators and members of the public.
All trucks and trailers must go through a scheduled safety inspection every nine weeks, in addition to their annual PSV, to meet legal requirements. This represents well over 2,000 vehicle inspections every year for the Quinn fleet.
In addition to the required safety inspections, tyre management will be prioritised on every vehicle in the fleet to ensure the safety and roadworthiness. Effective tyre management will not only improve road safety, but will help to mitigate increased costs in tyre replacement.
Speaking of the recently opened facility, Quinn Building Products’ Transport Manager, Gearoid Gilheany commented,
“Vehicle safety and compliance is of the utmost importance to us, and this is reflected in the opening of our dedicated Vehicle Inspection Centre. Having this facility on site will ensure we meet all safety requirements more easily, and we can ensure efficient management of our fleet inspections and maintenance.
Improving our facilities ensures the large volumes of vehicle inspections required are performed to the highest standard in a timely and cost-effective manner, with dedicated mechanics and operational staff in place in the Inspection Centre.
We all have a responsibility when it comes to ensuring vehicle safety, including our drivers and operators, and our management team. We’re proactive in ensuring each member of staff is fully trained in this area.”
The opening of the new Inspection Centre is part of a larger investment in the Quinn Building Products fleet, with a multi-million pound fleet replenishment programme currently underway, which will ensure the replacement of all older vehicles with newer models.
