Third ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Certification for Quinn
Quinn Tarmac has recently achieved certification for the manufacture and laying of bituminous materials to the internationally recognised standard, ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems. This is a major achievement for Quinn Tarmac, who are the third Quinn division to achieve certification since the new standard was introduced in February 2018.
Quinn Tarmac’s General Manager, Paul Lendrum, spoke of the certification, saying,
“The achievement of ISO 45001 is very much a team effort. The highest health and safety standards can only be achieved if every individual works together to do this, and we’re very proud of the excellent team effort to achieve and maintain these standards.”
The ISO 45001 standard was developed by a committee of occupational health and safety experts from more than seventy countries. Working in accordance with the standard reduces overall workplace risks, which in turn improves individual employee safety, health and wellbeing and creates a safer and healthier working environment for everyone. Certification to ISO 45001 ensures Quinn Tarmac’s manufacturing and site operations, systems and processes are world-class and in compliance with an internationally recognised safety standard.
Speaking of the most recent certification, Martina McElvaney, Assistant Health & Safety Manager, commented,
“We are delighted to achieve the standard in our Tarmac division. Here at Quinn, the safety and health of our workforce is our number one priority and we strive daily to continually improve safety and occupational health standards throughout the company.
Certification to this third party audited, internationally recognised standard has provided us with a structured framework to achieve our occupational health and safety objectives and demonstrates our commitment to ensure that our entire workforce go home safe and well at the end of each and every day.”
External audits were conducted by NSAI in August and November 2019, which has enabled Quinn Tarmac to follow Quinn Precast and Quinn Packaging in achieving certification to ISO 45001:2018, with other areas of the Quinn business currently in the process of gaining certification.
